Course 1: Beyond Cost, The Ethical Dilemmas of a Data Breach

It’s almost every day we read about a new cyber hack or data breach in the news. While the big companies are getting all the cyber press, the greatest impact is on small businesses. According to Symantec, 62% of all breaches in 2015 were of small and medium businesses, and 60% of those breached went out of business within 6 months. This training takes a look at 3 real life examples, and the ethical decision points that came with a suspected data breach. The case study approach illustrates the often overlooked ethical considerations in evaluating and managing cybersecurity risk and the potential implications for CPA firms and their clients.

Course 2: MythBusters, Cybersecurity Edition

It’s no secret that cybersecurity is the hot topic in the news and the top priority for the IRS. As with any major media movement, stories are sometimes sensationalized and a lot of misinformation can be spread. This training looks at what’s real and what’s not, focusing on the top myths affecting CPAs as we’ve heard them directly from our clients.

Course 3: The Ariento Small Business Cybersecurity Framework – People, Policies & Procedures

So you want to make your IT more secure, but you don’t know where to start. One area that is often overlooked is policies and procedures. Technology solutions are great, but if not backed up by sound policies and procedures they will have little effect on the overall security of a business. What are the best practices for IT and cybersecurity that actually make a business more secure and are applicable to your specific business? This training walks through the second part of the Ariento Small Business Cybersecurity Framework, concentrating on best practices implemented through IT and cybersecurity policies and procedures, giving small CPA firms a roadmap for improving their cybersecurity.
