Network Engineer

Description:  Network Engineers are responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and managing the local and wide area networks to ensure maximum uptime for users. The role includes designing system configurations, documenting and managing the installation of a new network, and maintaining and upgrading existing systems as necessary.

Location: United States/Flexible; Approximately 10% travel required

Compensation: Salary; Profit Sharing (Bonus) Program

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, install, operate and maintain on-premise, cloud and hybrid networks on client sites, in Ariento Data Centers, and Amazon Web Services (AWS)

  • Design and implement new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks

  • Install, configure and support network equipment including firewalls, routers, switches, DNS and DHCP

  • Procure network equipment and manage network administrators involved with network installation

  • Configure firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security

  • Maximize network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting

  • Oversee/execute network change management operations

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot network issues

  • Report network status to key stakeholders

  • Document networking processes and procedures

  • Research and identify solutions to software and hardware issues

  • Track network and system issues through to resolution, within agreed time limits

  • Handle escalated unresolved issues reported by clients

  • Prioritize and manage several open issues at one time

  • Follow up with clients to ensure their systems are fully functional after troubleshooting 

Requirements:

  • Have had an active Secret Security Clearance within past 10 years

  • Military or Federal Government experience

  • Experience in a customer support role

  • Hands-on configuration experience of network devices

  • Experience systematically troubleshooting networking issues

  • Proficiency in English

  • Customer-oriented and cool-tempered

  • Hands-on experience with Windows/Linux/Mac OS environments

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

  • Ability to provide step-by-step technical help, both written and verbal

  • An ability to learn new technologies quickly

  • Strong documentation skills

Preferred:

  • Additional certification in AWS, Microsoft, Linux or similar technologies

  • Security Plus, CISM, and/or CISSP certification

  • CCNA or CCNP certification

  • Experience working with Palo Alto and Cisco devices
